Both of these sides have lost their opening league fixtures and they need to get some points on the table sooner rather than later. Unai Emery hasn't had an easy introduction to the English Premier League having to face Manchester City at home and then travelling to Stamford Bridge to take on and be beaten by Chelsea. There are already ridiculous statements being made online saying he only has until November if results don't pick up soon but if his side want to get back into the Champions League, they need to get that first win under their belt. Arsenal had the second best home record in the Premier League last season and in the past two seasons, only teams from Manchester have been able to go to the Emirates and get a league victory. Only once since 2007 have West Ham beaten Arsenal and the last 17 meetings have resulted in 14 wins for Arsenal, two draws and a defeat in 2015. Arsenal tend to do well against the lesser teams, particularly at home and that's the kind of game we have here.

West Ham find themselves in a familiar position having made lots of signings during the summer but still getting poor results. This time it's even worse with nearly £100m spent on new recruits and although fans would most likely have expected defeat at Liverpool, losing at home to Bourmemouth wasn't what they wanted to see. It's going to take time for the new Hammers (including former Arsenal players Wilshere and Perez) to gel but they don't have the easiest of fixture lists and could again find themselves battling to stay out of the bottom three and hoping for a tenth place finish at best. They lost ten away league games last season and have one win from their last seven. More worrying is the fact they have conceded at least three goals in five of those games.
