Arsenal - Nottingham Forest: Form Analysis
Arsenal came flying out of the blocks last season with five consecutive wins in their first five matches to take the lead in the league standings. After a 3-1 loss to Manchester United on matchday six, they went on a 13-match unbeaten run which included 11 wins and two draws. Unfortunately for Arsenal, though, a run of four matches without a win in April saw their lead erased, and they eventually ended five points behind the Citizens. While the season did end trophyless for the Gunners, it was still a successful campaign as they now have the belief that they can challenge Manchester City for the title. They come into this match following a good preseason where they won the Emirates Cup, but perhaps more importantly, have already secured their first piece of domestic silverware, having beaten City in the Community Shield last weekend.
Despite their relatively low finish, Nottingham Forest would have seen the 2022-23 season as a tremendous success. After starting the league season as one of the favorites to be relegated, Forest finished four points clear of the drop and had guaranteed their safety with a game to spare. The visitors recorded nine wins, 11 draws, and 18 losses in the season and ended the campaign unbeaten in their last four matches. During that time, they secured a crucial point against Chelsea and beat the Gunners 1-0 at the City Ground. Forest played as many as six preseason matches but managed only one win, along with a draw and four losses, including a 5-0 beating by Ligue 1 outfit Rennes. Still, having beaten this opponent in the league and FA Cup last season, the visitors cannot be completely counted out of the tie just yet.

Arsenal & Nottingham Forest Squad Analysis
Arsenal's excellent performance last season has allowed them to attract some incredible talent over the break. The biggest addition to the Gunners squad is Declan Rice, who is likely to fit straight into the midfield. Kai Havetz, Jurrien Timber, and Folarin Balogun were the other summer acquisitions and will also be hoping to make an immediate impression. In terms of injuries, the major blow for Mikel Arteta is up front, with Gabriel Jesus ruled out with a knee injury. Oleksandr Zinchenko is also set to miss out due to a calf injury, while Reiss Nelson and Folarin Balogun are flagged as doubts.
Forest have also done some strengthening in the off-season, bringing Manchester United winger Anthony Elanga into the side. They have also acquired the services of ex-Newcastle striker Chris Wood and goalkeeper Matt Turner from Arsenal. Omar Richards and Wayne Hennessey are set to be sidelined for an extended period with injuries, while Taiwo Awoniyi will have to pass a late fitness test.

Arsenal Half-Time Result
In front of a packed house at the Emirates, Arsenal will likely start the match flying, and it would come as no surprise if they got an early goal or two. They have also gone into the halftime break in the lead in four of their last six home games.
Gabriel Martinelli to score anytime
In the absence of Jesus, a large chunk of the attacking responsibility will now fall on the shoulders of fellow-Brazilian Gabriel Martinelli, who had an excellent season last time around. The winger bagged 15 goals last term and scored on the opening day of last season as well.
