Arsenal - Manchester United: Form Analysis
Arsenal saw their perfect winning start to the season come to an end last weekend as they were held to a shock 2-2 home draw against Fulham. It was a particularly frustrating result for Gunners fans as Fulham were reduced to 10 men in the 82nd minute only to find the eventual equalizer in the 87th minute. The result leaves Arsenal still unbeaten but now down to fourth in the standings with a two-point gap opening up between themselves and City. Last season saw Arsenal finish with the third best home record with 45 points from 19 matches. A somewhat concerning trend that seems to have carried over into the new season is their difficulty keeping clean sheets at the Emirates. The hosts finished with an impressive 14 clean sheets last term but only four of them came on home soil.
Manchester United suffered a horror-start against Nottingham Forest at Old Trafford last weekend, conceding twice in the first five minutes of play. However, the Red Devils showed excellent grit to battle back to an eventual 3-2 victory. The result is sure to provide an enormous boost of confidence to the locker room for Erik ten Hag’s men who have the opportunity to leapfrog their opponents today in the standings with a victory. Manchester United have won two of their first three league fixtures with their only defeat coming 2-0 away at Tottenham. Last season saw a drastic difference in United’s ability to earn points as the visitors compared to at home. Early signs point towards that potentially being an issue this year as well.

Arsenal & Manchester United Squad Analysis
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta will be boosted by the return of fullback Takehiro Tomiyasu from suspension and Oleksandr Zinchencko from injury. The latter will likely slot into his preferred left back position as a bad injury to new signing Jurrien Timber meant that Jakub Kiwior filled in there in the draw against Fulham. Gabriel Jesus also made a return to the action off the bench following his surgery. He’ll be pushing for a spot in the starting 11 but Arteta may be hesitant to rush him back too soon. Saka and Martinelli should occupy the wings with Odegaard pulling the strings. New signing Declan Rice has settled in nicely and could partner Thomas Partey in the midfield.
Manchester United will have to deal with a tricky trip to the Emirates without their rock in central defense Raphael Varane. The former Real Madrid man was taken off at halftime in the win over Forest and is looking at missing the next few games. Fullbacks Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia will also miss out, as will new signing Mason Mount who is sidelined for an extended period of time. United are still waiting on the debut of big money summer signing Rasmus Hojlund from Atalanta. The 20-year-old striker is apparently close to a return and could be in contention for a starting spot here.

Our Arsenal vs Manchester United Prediction
Arsenal seem almost incapable of keeping a clean sheet at the Emirates, a trend which seems to have carried over from last season. With Varane and Shaw missing from the United’s backline, Arsenal should have even more success on the attacking side. The hosts scored 53 goals at this ground in the 2022/23 Premier League and saw 89% of their 19 matches go over the 2.5 goals total. Goals certainly look to be on the docket yet again in what should be another exciting clash. Our Arsenal vs Manchester United prediction is for both teams to score + over 2.5 goals.
