Arsenal vs Liverpool Prediction & Betting Tips - Community Shield
by James | in Football Predictions
The new English football season kicks off this weekend when Arsenal take on Liverpool in the Community Shield at Wembley Stadium. The match will be played behind closed doors due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. The Community Shield pits the winners of the previous season's Premier League title against the winners of the previous season's FA Cup. Liverpool won the league title by a landslide under Jurgen Klopp, ending a thirty-year drought. Arsenal beat Chelsea 2-1 in the FA Cup final at Wembley a few short weeks ago, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scoring a brace. Since then, Arsenal have added Brazilian veteran Willian to their ranks on a free transfer and look to continue developing Mikel Arteta's squad. The only significant signing that Liverpool have made thus far is Greek left-back Kostas Tsimikas, although Thiago Alcantara of Bayern could be joining.
Both clubs have been involved in friendly action during the short break. Liverpool may be missing one or two key players like Trent Alexander-Arnold or Van Dijk through injury but have quality in the middle of the park to dominate the game. Arsenal are currently without Dani Ceballos, who could rejoin, and are therefore lacking quality central midfielders. Arsenal won't fear Liverpool after beating them so recently, their 2-1 win occurring at the Emirates in July. We don't know how much of that win was down to the fact that Liverpool had already been confirmed as champions. What we do know is that the Reds are unbeaten in their ten previous outings against Arsenal. Aubameyang has yet to score for Arsenal against Liverpool and he will be looking to add that to a CV that becomes more impressive with each outing. Arsenal have a good record in the Community Shield and they are unbeaten in regular time in their last nine appearances, winning seven and losing two on penalties. Liverpool lost the Shield on penalties last season after playing out a 1-1 draw with Man City. We expect them to lay a marker here for the season ahead with a victory.
