Both these sides will be in the Europa League next season. One club is delighted with that news, while the other is extremely cheesed off with their second straight season playing on Thursday nights. Arsenal's hopes of qualifying for the Champions League next season died when they lost 1-0 at Atletico Madrid to go out of the Europa League. This is a highly significant game for Arsenal as it's the last home game with Arsene Wenger in charge. They start the weekend in sixth place in the Premier League which would be their worst finish in the league since coming 12th in 1995. It could get worse as they are only three points ahead of seventh placed Burnley but do have a game in hand. The Gunners have only won one of their last six league and cup games but have won six of their last seven home Premier League games, the other being a defeat by champions Manchester City. They'd love to give Wenger a home win in his final game and can't let emotions get the better of them.
Arsenal may be upset about another season in the Europa League, Burnley are delighted with their qualification, though might change their mind when it leads to fixture congestion and injuries next season. Seventh is their highest ever finish in the Premier League and their best in the top flight since finishing 6th in Division One in 1975. A win at the Emirates and a final day home victory over Bournemouth could yet see them grab sixth. However, they have failed to win any of their last three league games earning just two points and were held to a 1-1 draw by relegation-threatened Stoke City in their last away game. They have lost their last seven games against Arsenal and last beat them away from home 44 years ago. Go for Arsenal to give Wenger a win in his last home game and secure sixth place.
