Arsenal vs Aston Villa Prediction & Betting Tips - Premier League
by Daniel Ngulu | in Premier League Predictions
Arsenal pulled a great result away to Manchester United in their last Premier League game, and they will be hoping to continue with the momentum when Aston Villa visits the Emirates Stadium on Sunday. These two sides have had mixed fortunes in recent weeks and heading to the game, are separated only by goal difference, with Arsenal in ninth place and Villa eighth. Arsenal returned to winning ways in the league in their last match, beating Manchester United at Old Trafford to end a run of two straight losses in the league. That win was their second on the trot after earlier beating Dundalk in the Europa League. Before playing Villa, they will have a Europa League game against Molde on Thursday. That should not be a problem for the team with manager Mikel Arteta having already stated that he will rotate his squad. With two straight clean sheets, Arsenal have reported a massive improvement in defence and will want to explore that against this Villa side with a very good forward line. In their last five matches, Arsenal have lost thrice, and these losses have been against top six sides, so they should look at Villa as a winnable game, especially when playing at home. The Gunners have two clean sheets this season in the league, and have failed to score in two of the seven matches they have played. They won their first two home matches in the league this season before the shock loss to Leicester City in their last home league game. Generally, they have been good at home in the league, with just one home loss in 2020 – against Leicester. In 12 league matches at home, Arsenal have lost just once and won nine. However, they have no clean sheet in their last six straight home matches in the league.
The last time Aston Villa met Arsenal, they emerged winners, at the height of their relegation fight. They will be looking to hand Arsenal another shock, but at the Emirates Stadium, where they have lost in each of their last four visits. Villa head to London straight from back to back losses. They were thrashed 4-3 by Southampton right after a 3-0 beating by Leeds United and will be seeking some reprieve here. The two defeats have badly exposed this Villa side, after starting the campaign with four straight wins, among them a 7-2 win over champions Liverpool. They showed a great fighting spirit in the last game, to claw from 4-0 down against Southampton, the game ending 4-3, and skipper Jack Grealish was very key in their second half resurgence. He will be on show again at the Emirates but while Villa have a very good attack, in recent matches they have been exposed defensively. They have conceded nine goals in their last four matches though they have scored 11 goals in the process, with the big win over Liverpool making for most of the goals. Attack is one area they will want to explore greatly in their game against Arsenal while trying to cushion themselves at the back. They have also won their opening two away league games and carry a four-match unbeaten run away from home in the league. However, they have only one win in their last eight meetings with Arsenal and in all their losses to Arsenal, the Gunners have scored two goals or more.

Our Arsenal vs Aston Villa Prediction
Aston Villa are coming from a very tough run of matches, losing two straight home matches and go straight to a tough venue. They have not won at Arsenal in their last four visits and they find Arsenal in good spirits after their win over Manchester United. Arsenal do not lose a lot of home matches and they will be keen to add to Villa’s woes though they still have concerns about their defence. Against Manchester United, Arsenal had a few sticky moments in defence and with the likes of Jack Grealish in the Villa forward line, we don’t see the Gunners keeping a clean sheet. We however back their forwards to score and Arsenal winning 2-1 seems likely here.
