It is Tuesday night action in Liga Portugal, as Arouca play host to Benfica. The hosts are entering this game sitting in sixth place, a single point behind fifth Casa Pia, while Benfica are top of the table, seven points clear of Braga, from a  game more. Arouca has been in good form recently with just three defeats in their last eleven competitive games. They will be looking to bounce back from their midweek League Cup semi-final loss to Sporting, but will have a tough task ahead as they face the league leaders, Benfica. Arouca has been strong at home, remaining unbeaten in four of their last five home games. They have also been a threat in front of goal, scoring in nine of their last ten home games and three of their last four home meetings with Benfica. 

Benfica had a comfortable 2-0 win over Pacos Fereira in midweek. They have shown excellent mentality since their defeat to Braga at the end of the year, winning four of their five after their defeat, which to this day is their only one across all competitions this season. The visitors have also been efficient on the road with nine wins in eleven away games. However, they have struggled to keep clean sheets away from home, conceding in seven of their last twelve away encounters and in most of their games against quality sides. They have also kept just one clean sheet in their last four away meetings with Arouca.
