Armenia have a date at home to the Republic of Ireland as they commence their campaign in the UEFA Nations League in League B, Group 1. In a pool that also has Scotland and Ukraine, these two sides will be targeting an opening win and set a strategy for promotion. Armenia haven’t had a strong run ahead of this game; they have four losses in their last five matches and though playing at home, will be the underdogs. In their last five matches, they’ve failed to score in three, and their most recent game ended in a 9-0 loss to Norway. It was the third time in five matches that they conceded four or more goals, and they have just one clean sheet in those five matches, a 1-0 win over Montenegro in a friendly game.

The Republic of Ireland’s form is the complete opposite of Armenia’s. They haven’t lost a game in the last eight and in the run up to this clash, they’ve done well defensively, keeping four clean sheets in five matches. In four of their last six matches, Ireland have scored two or more goals while they’ve only conceded two goals in that entire run. We don’t expect the fact that they play away from home to cause Ireland any jitters. They have scored three or more goals in the last five away matches and they have three clean sheets in that run. Four of Ireland’s last five matches away from home have produced over 2.5 goals, and their only away loss in the last five matches was against Portugal.
