Argentina W - Sweden W: Form Analysis
Argentina do not have their fate in their hands but need to win to keep their hopes alive. German Portanova's charges lost to Italy on Match Day 1 by a solitary goal before a two-all draw with South Africa last time out. This left them tied with the CAF representatives on points and trail second-placed Italy by two points. They, therefore, need to win and at the same time hope that the Italy v South Africa match does not produce a winner. La Albiceleste are in their fourth World Cup tournament and have never progressed past the group stage. They have also never won a match on the global stage and have struggled against European teams. In their last eight matches against teams from UEFA, they have lost six times with five coming in the World Cup. The 28th-ranked nation in the world arrived for the tournament in dominating fashion.
Sweden have already qualified for the round of 16. If they top the group, they could play either the USA, Netherlands, or Portugal in the next round. Peter Gerhardsson's charges began the tournament slowly as they struggled to break down South Africa. They eventually got the job done, coming back to win 2-1 thanks to a 90th-minute goal by Amanda Ilestedt. The Blagult showed none of that lethargy in their next match against Italy and hammered their fellow Europeans 5-0. It is widely expected that Gerhardsson will tinker with his team here to give much-needed rest to his main stars. But even if he does, Sweden still have the firepower to master a win. They have scored a combined 10 goals in their last three matches. Sweden and Argentina have played each other once before. This was in the 2008 Olympics with Sweden winning 1-0.

Argentina W & Sweden W Squad Analysis
Argentina could largely be expected to field the same team that earned the point against South Africa. Sophia Braun and Romina Nunez scored in the come-from-behind draw to add their names to the history books. The two became the fifth and sixth players to have ever scored a World Cup goal for Argentina. Sadly for La Albiceleste, Miriam Mayorga will not be available for selection. The defender is suspended for this match after picking up two yellow cards.
Sweden have no injuries or suspensions meaning Peter Gerhardsson will have a full squad to pick from. Amanda Ilestedt has already placed her name in the golden boot race and is one of four top scorers with three goals. She is expected to play a part here to strengthen her chances of winning the golden boot. Fridolina Rolfo, scorer of two goals, is also one to look out for in this clash. As is Jonna Andersson who has two assists to her name.

Our Argentina W vs Sweden W Prediction
Our prediction for Argentina v Sweden is for both teams to score. Sweden are in sublime scoring form and should have no trouble getting past Argentina's leaky defence. Argentina on the other hand showed that they are capable of scoring in their 2-2 draw with South Africa. With their continued participation in the tournament hinged on the performance here, they are expected to be more attack-minded.
