World Champions Argentina will look to continue their strong form when they play El Salvador. The Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia will host this match this weekend on Saturday. The last time these sides met was in 2015, when Argentina strolled to a 2-0 win. Nothing much has changed since then, as they continue to grow from strength to strength. A 2-0 loss to Uruguay has stopped Argentina’s 14-game winning run back in November during the last international break, but they followed it with a 1-0 win over Brazil. They sit at the top of the CONMEBOL World Cup qualifying standings, while the defence of the Copa America crown is set to begin in June, for which they are set to start their preparations. Their form in international friendlies is equally impressive, with Argentina winning 13 and drawing three of their last 16 since March 2019.

El Salvador have lost their previous two matches against Argentina by a 2-0 score and would perhaps take another low-scoring defeat with glee. By contrast to their designated hosts, El Salvador is in the middle of a poor run of results. They have failed to win any of their last 19 games, drawing nine and losing ten along the way. They have the CONCACAF World Cup qualifiers to look forward to in the summer, and friendlies are likely to be their way of getting some confidence in their game. Getting back to scoring ways is likely to be at the top of their wish list, as El Salvador have failed to find the back of the net in four of their last six internationals.
