Argentina vs Colombia Prediction & Betting Tips - Copa America
by Joseph King in Copa America Predictions
The 48th edition of the Copa America reaches its conclusion on Sunday night (early morning UK time) as defending champions Argentina square off against red-hot Colombia. Let’s take a deeper look at the match statistics and predictions for this captivating clash between La Albiceleste and Los Cafeteros.
For Argentina, this final represents the opportunity to claim a record 16th Copa America crown (breaking their current stalemate with Uruguay) and the first back-to-back titles since 1993. Success for the Argentines would also mark their third consecutive international competition victory after famously winning the World Cup in 2022.
On the other side, Colombia will be looking to put an end to their 20+ year drought since last hoisting the coveted trophy. Despite their rich footballing culture and history, this is only the third time that the Tricolor have made the Copa America final. They would lose to Peru in 1975 before later triumphing over Mexico in 2001 to claim their solitary title.

Argentina - Colombia: Form Analysis
Both teams come into this final in scorching form, which should make this battle all the more interesting.
Argentina kicked their tournament off with a perfect three wins from three in Group A. They needed penalties to get by Ecuador in the quarter-final before strolling to a routine 2-0 win over Canada in the semis.
The win against the Canadians marked the 10th straight victory for La Albiceleste, nine of which came after 90 minutes. Since winning the World Cup title in Qatar, Lionel Messi and company have played 19 matches in total, posting a 17-1-1 record in regulation time.
Colombia come into this final putting their 28 match unbeaten run on the line.
During that time, Colombia have posted 22 wins and only six draws. With their remarkable streak, the Colombians have set a new national record and possess the longest current unbeaten run in international football.
This will undoubtedly be their biggest test during the course of this run, especially considering that the last team to beat them all the way back in 2022 was Argentina.
Néstor Lorenzo’s side reached this stage after topping Group D over South American powerhouse Brazil with two wins and a draw. That would earn them a quarter-final matchup with Panama, in which Colombia romped to a 5-0 victory.
Los Cafeteros needed to dig deep in the semi-final as they played the entire second half with 10 men. They were able to effectively shut down Uruguay in the second 45 minutes and see out the 1-0 win.

Argentina & Colombia Squad Analysis
Argentina come into this Copa America final unscathed after their 2-0 win over Canada in the semi-final. The most interesting part of Argentina’s team selection will be to see if Copa America 2024 leading scorer Lautaro Martínez (4 goals) is handed the start for the final.
Manager Lionel Scaloni appears to prefer the dynamics of the Julián Álvarez and Leo Messi pairing up top.
The Manchester City man got the nod in the semi-final is likely to continue in the starting lineup on Sunday, with Martínez offering an explosive option from the bench. Nahuel Molina, who has started three of the five matches so far, could replace Gonzalo Montiel at right back with the latter reportedly dealing a slight ankle injury.
On the other side, manager Néstor Lorenzo will be forced to replace right back Daniel Muñoz following his first half red card against Uruguay. Muñoz's absence will be a huge blow to Colombia as they relied on his attacking prowess. Santiago Arias is the most likely candidate to take up the vacated position.
All eyes will be on James Rodríguez, who has set the record for assists in a single Copa America tournament at six, along with Liverpool winger Luis Díaz.
31-year-old Jhon Córdoba has impressed this tournament, with his physicality making him a nightmare for defenders to mark. The Krasnador striker should continue to lead the line for Colombia.
