Argentina vs Australia Prediction & Betting Tips - International Friendlies
by Kennedy Kechula in Football Predictions
Argentina and Australia will play an international friendly match on Thursday in Beijing China. The match is part of Argentina’s two-game exhibition tour of Asia. This will be the second meeting between these two nations in the space of six months. Argentina defeated Australia 2-1 en route to winning the World Cup last year in Qatar. The Albiceleste are unbeaten in seven encounters with Australia and come to this match on an eight-game winning streak. Lionel Scaloni’s charges romped to a 7-0 thrashing of Curacao in their last match played in March. Scaloni has called up largely the same squad that played in Qatar though Lautaro Martinez and Paulo Dybala miss out. Manchester United’s Alejandro Garnacho is one of the new faces called up. Captain Lionel Messi headlines the squad which also has Angel Di Maria, Alexis MacAllister and goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez.
Australia will be using this test match to help prepare for the upcoming AFC Asia Cup next year. In the last international window, the Socceroos played two matches, both friendlies against Ecuador. They hosted both matches and won the first 2-1 in Sydney before losing by the same scoreline in Melbourne. They will hope to have picked up a few pointers against Argentina’s South American neighbours to prepare them for a win here. Australia do not have a winning streak to boost off but they have won seven of their last 10 fixtures. Head coach Graham Arnold has named 12 players from last year’s world cup squad into his latest 23-man list. Aaron Mooy, Jackson Irvine, and Bailey Wright are some of the high-profile players set to miss out here due to injury.
