Angers’ return to Ligue 1 hasn’t gone to plan so far, and things could get worse when they host Nice on Match Day 3. The two sides meet on Sunday, both seeking the elusive first win of the season. Read on for our prediction of this match.

The jubilation at finishing second in Ligue 2 has died down and it is down to business for Angers. Their opening two Ligue 1 matches haven't delivered much in terms of positive results. Angers started their 2024/25 campaign with a 1-0 home loss to Lens.

An even tougher away match against Lille ended in a 2-0 defeat. It could get even tougher against Nice. Having avoided defeat in their last two matches against Nice, Alexandre Dujeux’s side will look to that for positivity.

The hosts have, however, been the underdogs in most of their meetings with Nice.

Nice won four of their last six meetings with Angers and will hope to carry on with this dominant run. After securing European football last season, it is a surprise how poorly they’ve started this campaign.

Nice was the best defensive side in the league last term but they’ve already conceded three in the opening two games. On a positive note, Les Aiglons scored in both matches too.

After surprisingly falling 2-1 to promoted Auxerre in week one, there was some improvement at home to Toulouse. Nice played to a 1-1 draw, securing their first point of the season. With only two losses in the last nine league matches, Nice’s pedigree has to show in this game.
