Two newly promoted sides, America Mineiro and Juventude are set to face off in the sixth week of the Brazilian Serie A, both hoping to rise from unimpressive starts. With five matches gone, hosts America are placed 19th with a point while Juventude have five points, and are placed 14th. America are still in search of their first win and are coming from their fourth loss of the season. The biggest shortcoming for the team has been a weak attack, having scored one goal in the last five matches, while their only clean sheet, and point, came in the draw with Cuiaba, another underperforming side. As a result of their low scoring returns, four of America’s opening five matches have produced under 2.5 goals. In the last four home matches, across all competitions, America are winless, and haven’t scored in any of them.

Juventude shot up, to 14th in the standings after their first win of the season, against Sport Recife in their last game. Matheus Peixoto’s 83rd minute goal in that game, his second of the season, was the third in the league for Juventude and it ended a run of three matches without a goal. The team scored twice in the first game of the season, as they drew 2-2 with Cuiaba, before going on a three-game goalless run. In three of their opening five league matches, Juventude have conceded two or more goals. They have no win in their last seven away matches across all competitions.
