AmaZulu FC - Mamelodi Sundowns: Form Analysis
Amazulu come into this match after bowing out of the semi-final of the Telkom Knockout last weekend. They were beaten by TS Galaxy 3-2 at this venue, which followed a 1-0 loss against Stellenbosch, also here in Durban. The Heros will be hoping to avoid three home losses in a row here but face an opponent they have not beaten in their last three attempts. The hosts have struggled to put a run of results together so far this season. Over their last six matches, they have won one, drawn three and lost two. Amazulu’s major problem has been in attack this term, having scored just nine goals in 12 matches, which is the joint-second-lowest in the top flight. Unsurprisingly, they are the underdogs heading into this one.
Meanwhile, Mamelodi Sundowns suffered a rare loss over the weekend, beaten by TP Mazembe 1-0 in the CAF Champions League. However, they return to domestic competition now where they have been flawless this season. The Brazilians regained the lead in the PSL last week by beating Supersport United 2-0. That takes them to a perfect nine wins in nine, and due to their participation in continental competition, they have played four fewer games than the sides below them. Sundowns are averaging over two goals scored per match this season and have kept six clean sheets in their nine league games so far. The defending champions look to be on course to their record-extending 14th league title but will need to remain grounded with a fair chunk of the season still to go.

AmaZulu FC & Mamelodi Sundowns Squad Analysis
Amazulu have no major injury concerns for this match, though there are a few changes expected to be made to the side that stepped out against Galaxy. Augustine Chidi Kwem and Tshepang Moremi were brought in at halftime for Hendrick Ekstein and Mondli Mbanjwa, respectively, last weekend. We could see the former two start this match, while Sede Junior Dion should keep his place in attack.
With a bumper-to-bumper schedule, Sundowns have seen several of their players on and off the treatment table. Heading into this match, Siyanda Nyanga (shoulder), Abubeker Nasir (ankle) and Bathusi Aubaas (groin) are all ruled out through injury. Ronwen Williams, Mothobi Mvala and Khuliso are walking tightropes, one caution away from a one-match ban. Lucas Ribeiro Costa is currently tied for first place in the Golden Boot race on six goals in seven games and will be hoping to add to that against a questionable Amazulu defence.
