Barcelona will be looking to take a step closer to claiming another La Liga title when they travel to the Power Horse Stadium – Stadio de los Juegos Mediterraneos this Sunday to do battle with relegation contenders Almeria. The visitors currently sit atop La Liga with 59 points in 22 matches, eight points clear of their nemesis Real Madrid in second. After beating Cadiz 2-0 in their last match, Barcelona extended their recent unbeaten run in the league to 13 matches, including 12 wins and a single draw. Their record on the road this season has also been excellent, with a record of ten wins and just one loss. Barcelona is on a six-match win streak in away matches and has not been beaten by this opponent in their last 13 encounters. After bowing out of the Europa League in midweek, they will want to set down a marker in the domestic competition and will expect nothing less than three points in this one.

Almeria finds themselves at the wrong end of the table and looks set to spend the rest of the season involved in a relegation battle with Cadiz, Valencia, and Elche. The hosts are currently in 17th place in La Liga with 22 points in as many matches, level on points with Cadiz in the drop zone, though they are five goals better off. Almeria suffered a 6-2 defeat to Girona in their last match, which was their third in their last six matches, including two draws and a single win. 19 of their 22 points have come at home this season with a record of six wins, one draw, and four losses, but they will find it extremely difficult to build on that record in this match.
