Old rivals Algeria the Afcon Champions and Egypt clash in the 2021 Arab Cup. The tournament is being played in Qatar and although this is the 10th edition of the Cup, it is the first under FIFA’s jurisdiction. This is a top of the table clash in Group D with both teams on six points after two matches. They have the exact same goal difference having scored six goals and yet to concede any. These teams are in pole position to advance into the quarter finals as the top two teams from each of the four groups advance. This match will decide who the group winner will be. Algeria have a brilliant record and are unbeaten in their last 22 competitive matches with 17 wins and 5 draws. Their last loss was way back in October 2019.

Egypt will be without their superstar Mo Salah for this tournament but they have started very well with two wins. They are also on a great run of 17 matches without defeat and haven’t lost since July 2019 when they had a shock home loss to South Africa. They have had 12 wins and 5 draws during that time. These teams although on the same continent have not played each other in recent times with the last match between them in 2010 with Egypt winning 4-0. Egypt have won six of their last seven matches with a 2-2 draw with Angola the only match they have not won in that period.
