Albania and Israel battle it out for the third round of their Nations League group. With Russia already eliminated from the group due to UEFA sanctions, there is no relegation threat this time around, with both teams drawing their first two games against Iceland, 1-1 and 2-2 respectively. Edy Reja’s Albania has taken huge steps forward since he took charge. Despite eventually missing out on World Cup Qualification, they chased the second place up until the last day, picking up an impressive double against Hungary. However, the issues in attack persist, with the team failing to score in three out of their last six games. Moreover, they have only won once in their last six games, with this sole victory coming against Andorra. They can surely draw inspiration playing at home however, having won five of their last seven competitive home games. 

After a relatively uneventful qualification group, where Israel were easily outclassed by both Denmark and Scotland, the visitors will view this Nations League group as a chance to contest for a Euro 2024 place. They will attempt to do so with a new coach, with Alon Hazan promoted from the youth side to bring an aura of change to the Israeli side. Israel games have been relatively high scoring of late, with an impressive twelve of their last thirteen matches featuring Over 2.5 goals. If one only includes Nations League games, Israel’s Over 2.5 goals count stands at an impressive eighteen in a row. This free reign style came at a cost, with Israel conceding twenty-one goals in their ten qualification games, and if the entertaining draw with Iceland is any evidence, there is no managerial intention to change this approach.
