La Liga pacesetters Atletico Madrid are on the road this weekend for a game at Alaves on Sunday. Clear of their closest rivals, Real Madrid, by two points, Atletico also have two games in hand on their city foes. Alaves are 13th in the table with 18 points from 16 matches; this is a sum that leaves them vulnerable to a drop into the relegation zone or capable of climbing into the top half of the table based on their next result. And Alaves are hard to assess most weeks. They went through all of November unbeaten - a win away to Real Madrid the highlight - but they have now failed to win four of their past five La Liga games. 

In Atletico, they face an opponent looking likeliest to win the title this season, bouncing back from a crushing defeat to Real Madrid by winning four consecutive matches across two competitions. One of those wins was away to Real Sociedad too, evidence of Atletico's ability to win on their travels. They are unbeaten in five of their six away matches, claiming victory on four occasions. Luis Suarez has been one of the summer transfer market bargains, scoring eight goals in the league already. Atletico has a sharp forward at one end and a wall for a defence at the other, shutting out the opposition on four of their six La Liga trips. Unbeaten in their last five games at Alaves, we suggest backing Atletico to win this contest with a clean sheet.
