The top two sides in the Eredivisie are set to face off this weekend in one of the top clashes lined up across Europe. Ajax plays host to PSV, with just a point separating them. Ajax are top with 22 points and PSV second on 21 after nine matches. The two are coming from continental assignments, Ajax are coming from a 4-0 win over Borussia Dortmund, their second straight win after a 2-0 win over Heerenveen in the Dutch league. They’ve lost once in the nine league games, winning seven and are the leading scorers with 32 goals. Ajax also have the best defence so far, having conceded just twice, which is 10 goals less than PSV. The Dutch champions lost their last home game, 1-0 to Utrecht, and in their last meeting with PSV, in the Super Cup, they also lost, 4-0. Both teams have scored in four of their last six meetings.

PSV are coming from a home loss to Monaco in the Europa League and will hope to recover here. This is a key game for them as far as their league ambitions are concerned.
