Ajax vs Fortuna Sittard Prediction & Betting Tips - Eredivisie

Second-placed Ajax face a race against time to stay in the Champions League qualifying spots as they host a mid-table 11th-placed Fortuna Sittard in Eredivisie during this weekend. The hosts are 2nd in the standings but with only two points separating teams from second to fourth, the battle is heating up at the top of the table. Ajax are eight points behind leaders Feyenoord and although that is a gap which can be covered, practically their chances are next to nothing. Having confirmed their berth in the KNVB Cup final with a 2-1 win over Feyenoord, the mood in the home camp is one of jubilation. They need that to come back to winning form in the league, having failed to win their last two league matches – drawing and losing one each. Their home form is a bit tricky with just three wins out of their last eight Eredivisie matches at this venue.

Fortuna are going through a sequence of up-and-down results, with two wins and four losses from their last six league games. They remain eight points above the relegation play-off spot currently occupied by Excelsior ahead of this round. While technically they could still be pulled down, Fortuna remain set on course for a mid-table finish. It doesn’t help their fortunes though that their defensive record has been all over the place. Only four teams have conceded more goals than Fortuna’s 47 ahead of this round and three of those four teams are in the bottom-three. Interestingly enough, their away record is much better with three wins from their last five league matches on the road.
