Aduana Stars will be at home to welcome Samartex in a top-of-the-table Ghana Premier League clash on Sunday. The hosts are second in the standings after 17 rounds of play and trail leaders Samartex by two points. This is the first match for both teams this year after the mid-season break. Aduana went into the recess after an emphatic 4-1 victory over Dreams FC on New Year’s Eve 2023. It was only their third win in their final eight games of the year. The Dormaa Ahenkro-based side battled with a lack of consistency as last year came to an end. They suffered four of their seven defeats thus far in this period. The two-time Ghanaian champions will hope to have put this slump behind them as they brace themselves for a crunch title run-in. Aduana have won 10 times so far and eight of their wins have come at home. They have amassed 30 points and have a one-point cushion on their closest challengers.

Samartex have also won 10 of their 17 league matches. One of those wins was a 1-0 success over Aduana in the reverse match back in September. The win extended their unbeaten run in this fixture to three games with the last two ending 1-0. Samartex drew 2-2 the last time they were away to Aduana and a similar result will still keep them top of the table. The Samreboi-based club will however not settle for a draw and will seek a win to send a message in the title race. Samartex also went into the mid-season break with a big win as they defeated Accra Lions 3-1 away from home. It was only their second away victory of the season and moved them to 32 points. The visitors have won four of their last five games and are on a two-game winning run.
