The six-team A-League play-offs have been reached and we're at the quarter final stage. Adelaide United host Wellington Phoenix with the winners taking on Central Coast Mariners in the last four. The home side will be disappointed to have to play this game. They had looked like finishing second in the table but a run of just two points from four games saw them drop down to third and losing out on automatic entry into the semi-finals. Adelaide have serious defensive problems at present with eight goals conceded in their last two games. They drew 4-4 at Perth Glory and then lost their second place to Central Coast Mariners with a 4-1 home defeat. Their goal was a last-gasp consolation effort and Adelaide now have to bounce back from that loss. They earned just one point from their last three home league games but in the match before that run, they beat Wellington Phoenix 5-1. 

The away side finished sixth in the main A-League season winning their final fixture 1-0 at Macarthur who ended the season bottom of the table. Before that, Wellington had earned just a single point from five games with 17 goals conceded. A form guide for the last five A-League games of the season has them with only MacArthur below them. They may have held onto sixth place and made the play-offs but Wellington ended the main season with a -6 goal difference. 45 goals were conceded in their 26 games, one less than their opponents in this match. Away form saw Phoenix win four A-League games but lose six. Recent form is not impressive with three losses and 13 goals conceded before their win at McArthur. A bet on Adelaide to win and both teams scoring is our tip for this match.
