Second placed Adelaide United host Sydney FC who are sixth in the A-League. Adelaide begin the game six points behind leaders Melbourne City. Their lead over third placed Central Coast Mariners is six points at present. However, it may only be three points when this game begins as the Mariners play Western United the day before this fixture. The home side are bidding to make it five league wins in a row and have been scoring plenty of goals of late. Their most recent win was a 3-2 victory at Western Sydney Warriors making it 16 goals scored in the last four league fixtures. Home form has seen Adelaide win seven of their ten home A-League fixtures this season with only one defeat, that was inflicted by Newcastle Jets last December. The goals have been flowing on home soil with 13 scored in the last three played. 

Sydney FC have won their last two league visits to Adelaide. They come into this game though with only one league in their last six A-League fixtures. That was a 1-0 home win over Melbourne Victory who are one-from-bottom in the A-League. Sydney currently hold the final play-off position but only by a point from Perth Glory. Even bottom-of-the-table Brisbane Roar are only five points behind them. Sydney have only one point from their last three game and the last two have seen them concede seven times. Away form has produced five league wins but the same number of defeats. Three of those have come in their last five on the road. Another away defeat looks to be on the way.
