Adelaide United host Central Coast Mariners in the A-League play-off semi-finals. This is the first leg and the eventual winners will take on either Melbourne City or Sydney FC in the final. Adelaide finished third in the main league, a place and two points behind their opponents. They went into their final fixture in second place but lost to the Mariners 4-1 at home. That left Adelaide in third and having to play in the play-off quarter finals. It went well for them though with a 2-0 home win over Wellington Phoenix with Craig Goodwin scoring a goal in each half. The win ended a poor run of four games without a win, including two that saw them concede four goals. Home form has seen Adelaide win only one of their last four games. 

Central Coast Mariners will come into this game with few fears. That recent 4-1 win at Adelaide will boost their confidence but it was already high. The Mariners ended the season with an unbeaten run of five games, winning four of them. The goals have been flowing too with them scoring at least three goals in each of those four victories. They won six away league games in the main season and no other side won more games on the road. The last three have all been won with ten goals being scored. Adelaide will likely put in a better performance than the recent game but a double chance bet on the Mariiners to win or draw looks a likely winner.
