Mainz’s attempts to steer clear of the relegation zone will see them restart their campaign against Wolfsburg. This Bundesliga matchday 17 will be played at the Mewa Arena on Saturday. In fact, just two wins since the start of October – seven defeats and one draw in that sequence – has nearly erased all the benefits of a strong start. Getting their record straight on the road will ease some of the worries, as they have won just once across their last seven away league games. That win came on their last trip though, and historically, Wolfsburg have enjoyed playing Mainz here which may work to their advantage.
