Yoshihito Nishioka vs Thanasi Kokkinakis Prediction & Picks - Adelaide International
by Lou Aguila | in Tennis Picks
Kokkinakis of Australia will kick off his 2025 ATP season campaign against Yoshihito Nishioka of Japan on Monday at the Adelaide International. Ranked No.77 in the ATP world rankings, Kokkinakis is out to reach new heights this season after going through an up-and-down campaign in 2024. The Adelaide International has a special place in Kokkinakis, who last won his last ATP title in this tournament in 2022, beating Frenchman Arthur Rinderknech in a classic three-set showdown, 6–7(6–8), 7–6(7–5), 6–3. The 29-year-old Nishioka has rattled off three consecutive victories to open the 2025 season before bowing to eventual champion Jiri Lehecka 6-2 6-7(5) 6-4 in round 2 of the Brisbane International. Nishioka aims to win his fourth career ATP title after earning his third hardware last year at the Atlanta Open.

Our Yoshihito Nishioka vs Thanasi Kokkinakis Prediction
Nishioka and Kokkinakis will meet for the first time since their only encounter to date in the qualifying phase of the 2014 US Open. Nishioka won that match in straight sets, 7-5, 4-6, 6-4, but a lot of things have changed since that encounter. Playing in his backyard, Kokkinakis is the betting favorite to win this first-round matchup, but I feel Nishioka can pull off an upset here since has played really well in his first four matches this season. Nishioka has a 61.6 percent career win rate on the hard court, which is almost similar to Kokkinakis’ win percentage (61.3 percent) on this surface. Our betting prediction for Thanasi Kokkinakis vs. Yoshihito Nishioka: Yoshihito Nishioka will win.
