The Hawks became the third team to beat the defending champion this season as third-year guard Dyson Daniels dazzled in the absence of Trae Young, recording 28 points, 7 rebounds, and 6 steals in Atlanta’s 117-116 win over the Boston Celtics. Jalen Johnson also had a triple-double with 18 points, 12 rebounds, and 10 assists, while Larry Nance Jr. added 19 off the bench. Hawks grabbed 19 offensive rebounds to beat the Celtics in the battle for the boards, 44-34. The Wizards’ losing woes extended to six games following a 139-130 loss to the San Antonio Spurs. Jordan Poole erupted for 42 points on 15-for-22 shooting, but his effort would be outshined by Victor Wembanyama’s first 50-point game. Washington’s defense continues to betray them, allowing the Spurs to put up their high-scoring output this season at 139 points on 52 percent field goal shooting.
