The Washington Nationals (10-14 SU, 14-10 ATS) visit the Miami Marlins (6-20 SU, 9-17 ATS) with both teams looking to build momentum after getting swept earlier in the week. Washington took its first step off the canvas in a 3-1 win over Miami on Friday, but neither side has shown much of anything on offense as of late.
The Marlins, as a team, get on base less often than anyone this side of the White Sox, and the Nationals have scored just seven runs overall in their past four games. Plus, starters Mitchell Parker and Edward Cabrera are both off to a strong start, with neither giving up more than three earned runs in a start in 2024. This might be a game where three runs are enough for a victory, just like Friday was.

They both played very good opponents earlier this week, with the Nationals losing three to the Dodgers and the Marlins getting swept by Atlanta. There’s just not a lot to like about either offense, and both bullpens do a very good job of missing bats.
The Miami bullpen ranks fourth in the majors in strikeouts, while the Nationals are closer to the middle of the pack. But given that the Marlins aren’t hitting much at all, the Nationals’ bullpen doesn’t need to be at its best to keep Miami from scoring.
