USA vs Jamaica Prediction & Picks - CONCACAF Nations League
by Carlos Zabala | in Soccer Picks
The only ever champion of the CONCACAF UEFA Nations League, the United States, which won the competition in its first three editions, continues its path to the semifinals by defeating Jamaica last Thursday in Kingston 1-0.
Pulisic combined with Ricardo Pepi who scored the only goal of the game with a cross shot. Pepi, the 21-year-old PSV striker, now has 12 personal goals with the United States.
In the second half, the Raggae Boys dominated the pace of the match at the start of the second half, but their lack of precision did not allow them to achieve anything. Jamaica, in the 86th minute, would have Holgate sent off and would be left with 10.
With the latest result, the United States has not lost against Jamaica in the last 8 games between them. For Argentine coach Pochettino, the 1-0 victory meant his third game in charge of the US but the first competitive one. In the return leg, US will be the favorite to win in 90 minutes with odds of up to -250. The match will be at the CITYPARK in St Louis and US only needs at least a draw to qualify for the semi-finals.

USA - Jamaica: Form Analysis
The US weren't exactly convincing in their 1-0 win in Kingston for the first leg of this stage of the CONCACAF Nations League matchup but the Stars and Stripes were nevertheless able to get the job done and secure their first competitive victory under Pochettino. The USMNT showed some signs of life, creating several chances in the final third but were still missing that finishing touch to increase the scoreline.
Jamaica played a heavily defensive match and at times looked like they were about to draw the level. They'll be looking to capitalize on a still shaky US squad who are looking to secure the 3 points in front of their home crowd in St. Louis.

USA & Jamaica Squad Analysis
Similarly to the first leg, the US will be without Balogun who is still out with an injury for this match. On the other hand, Tim Weah will be back in the squad, having served his two-match ban following his red card in their humiliating defeat against Panama. Weah's ill-timed punch to Panama defender Roderick Miller's head was a crucial factor in the team's loss in the face of the Panamanian underdogs. Weah will undoubtedly help this team in the final third, an area where they've proven lackluster, time and time again.
For Jamaica, 2 key players won't be available to play, or even travel to St. Louis for this quarterfinal match. Michail Antonio and Kaheim Dixon are unable to travel to the US as they both have lost their passports. This won't change much from the first leg match as neither saw a minute of playtime, Dixon sat on the bench and Antonio missed due to suspension. Add to this list Mason Holgate, who won't be available for this return matchup due to being issued a red card in the 86th minute of the first leg. That being said, Jamaica certainly have the strength to upset the Americans at home and have proven their worth on the road this season.
