Uruguay vs Brazil Prediction & Picks - Copa America
by Simon Day | in Copa America Picks
The final quarter final of the 2024 Copa America is a mouthwatering clash between Uruguay and Brazil. Uruguay have been in imperious form so far, winning all three of their group games by a combined score of nine goals to one. Aside from their fantastic results, Marcelo Biesla's men have been receiving rave reviews for their fluent, attacking play and creativity. All of a sudden, they are among the favorites to lift the title. Standing in their way is a Brazilian side yet to hit top form. Their passage to the last eight was secured thanks to a 4-1 victory over a poor Paraguay side, but they will have to improve considerably if they want to win the Copa for a tenth time.Limited Offer. Uruguay - Brazil: Form Analysis
Uruguay are on a four match winning run, scoring 13 goals and conceding just one in those games. They have now won eight and drawn two of their 12 matches since Marcelo Biesla took over as manager. Along with Argentina, Uruguay hold the record for the most Copa America titles. They have picked up the trophy on 15 occasions, most recently in 2011, when they defeated Paraguay 3-0 in the final. However, in the four tournaments since then, they have failed to make it past the quarter final stage.
Brazil are undefeated in their last seven games, although four of those have ended in draws. Prior to that, they had lost three consecutive World Cup qualification games, leaving them in sixth place in the South American standings and in serious danger of missing out on the 2026 tournament. Brazil have won the Copa America on nine occasions, most recently in 2019. At the 2021 tournament, they made it all the way to the final, before losing 1-0 to Argentina. They have also won the World Cup a record five times, although it has been 22 years since they last lifted the trophy.

Uruguay & Brazil Squad Analysis
Uruguay are likely to be unchanged from the eleven that eased to a 0-1 victory over the United States in their final group game. That means Darwin Nunez (two goals in three games) will lead the attack, with the likes of Maximiliano Araújo and Federico Valverde providing support from midfield. At the other end of the pitch, goalkeeper Sergio Rochet has been in fine form, conceding just one goal in the three group games.
Possible starting eleven: Rochet; Nandez, R. Araujo, Olivera, Olaza; Ugarte, Valverde; Pellistri, De Arrascaeta, M. Araujo; Nunez
Brazil declined the chance to rest some key players for their final group game (a 1-1 draw with Columbia). Therefore, the likes of Vinicius Junior, Allison, Rodrygo and Damilo have played all three games so far. Despite Savio and Endrick pushing hard for starting places, manager Dorival Júnior is unlikely to make any changes from the eleven that started the final group game.
Possible starting eleven: Alisson; Danilo, Militao, Marquinhos, Arana; Guimaraes, Luiz; Raphinha, Paqueta, Rodrygo; Junior
