While technically the home side, Ukraine has been forced to host its matches outside of the country given the political turmoil in their country. Ukraine is unbeaten in their last four matches against Albania. But two of those were friendlies. These two sides have not met in a competitive setting since 2005, when they were fighting for qualification for the 2006 World Cup. That makes this match essentially uncharted territory. The two sides are in the first group of League B in the Nations League. Winners of this group are promoted to League A, while the 2nd-placed team must go through promotion play-offs to earn their place in the higher level. Albania made noise this summer after some memorable moments. They scored in the opening minute against Italy and managed to draw Croatia. They even pushed Spain to the limit before ultimately losing 1-0. Ukraine’s failure to advance out of the group stage was incredibly unfortunate given they earned 4 points.
