Already assured of finishing in second place in the standings, AC Milan has nothing left to play for at the end of this season. Olivier Giroud and his teammates secured their spot in the next Champions League long ago, and after spending most of the season on the podium, this second-place finish accurately reflects the level of the Milanese team. However, they were never able to keep up with their neighbors, Inter Milan. With limited stakes, the recent matches played by the Rossoneri haven't been the most dazzling. Although Stefano Pioli's players returned to winning ways last week with a 5-1 home victory against Cagliari, they had gone four consecutive matches without a win and were eliminated by Roma in the Europa League quarterfinals.

This weekend, AC Milan travels to Piedmont to face a team still in the running for a European spot, Torino. The Turin team sits in 10th place, three points behind Fiorentina (with one game in hand), in 8th place which qualifies for a European ticket. Like Milan, Ivan Juric's players also got back to winning last week with a 2-1 victory away to Hellas Verona, ending a run of five consecutive matches without a win. Torino's attack had been struggling, scoring only two goals in their last five matches, a hindrance in their quest for victories. But unbeaten at home since February (one win and four draws), Torino hopes to take advantage of an AC Milan side already on vacation to secure three points and keep their hopes of European qualification alive.
