Tottenham vs Liverpool Prediction & Picks - Carabao Cup
by Tyler Doty | in Soccer Picks
The Carabao Cup semi-finals will be well worth a visit! In particular, the double-header between Tottenham and Liverpool. The first leg takes place this Wednesday at 3 pm EST. Spurs will host the first leg at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Tottenham's confidence is not high going into this important fixture. The team coached by Ange Postecoglou is only 12th in the Premier League. They will need to raise their game if they are to beat the odds.
The opposite is true of Liverpool. The Reds are off to a great start in all competitions. Leading the Premier League and the league phase of the Champions League, the Mersey club have no intention of taking their foot off the pedal in the Carabao Cup. Arne Slot's men will certainly be doing everything in their power to secure a place in the final of the English Cup.

Tottenham - Liverpool: Form Analysis
In the Carabao Cup, Tottenham pulled off some fine feats. After a controlled start against Coventry (1-2), the London club managed to see off Manchester City (2-1) and Manchester United (4-3). Now in the last four, Ange Postecoglou's team must be dreaming. However, they were not full of confidence when they hosted Liverpool in the first leg of their semi-final. Spurs have taken just one point from their last 4 Premier League games, and have dropped to 12th in the table. On December 22, they fell heavily to the Reds in the league (3-6).
Liverpool are shining on all fronts this season.
It's not the same story for Liverpool. In the Carabao Cup, they made their presence felt against West Ham (5-1), Brighton (2-3) and Southampton (1-2). It's not just in the English League Cup that the Reds shine. They have won 6 of their 6 Champions League matches and are now sitting at the top of the table. Arne Slot's men remain just as convincing in the Premier League. They are in 1st position, 6 points ahead of Arsenal (2nd), but 1 matchday behind. It's true that Liverpool were held to a 2-2 draw by Manchester United last weekend. Prior to that, however, they had won 3 league games in a row.

Tottenham & Liverpool Squad Analysis
Tottenham are not spared from injury problems at the moment. Guglielmo Vicario, Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven, Ben Davies, Destiny Udogie, Wilson Odobert, Richarlison and Mikey Moore are injured, while Pape Matar Sarr and James Maddison are suspended. Fraser Forster is doubtful, as is Radu Dragusin, who went off injured in the last match. Ange Postecoglou will be relying heavily on his key players to pull off the feat, particularly Dejan Kulusevski. The Swedish winger is having a fine year, with 7 goals and 8 assists in all competitions. Heung-Min Son, who has been mute in the last 4 matches, will be hoping to bounce back at the right moment.
Mohamed Salah continues to shine for Liverpool.
On the Liverpool side, only Joe Gomez and Dominik Szoboszlai are unavailable. On the good news front, Arne Slot saw the return of Ibrahima Konaté last weekend. The French central defender was able to play the entire match against Manchester United. The Reds' attacking options will be closely watched. Scorer of 5 goals in his side's last 4 matches, Mohamed Salah is in fine form this season. The same goes for Cody Gakpo. The Dutch striker has scored in Liverpool's last 3 Premier League games.
