Friday the New York Yankees will finally have their home opener after going 6-1 on their 7-game road trip to start the season. Shortstop, Anthony Volpe, has led the way in average, batting an impressive .409 to this point. Oswaldo Cabrera leads them in RBIs with 7. As a staff, the Yankees pitchers have gone for a combined 2.53ERA which is ranked 4th in the league. Marcus Stroman will get the start for the Yankees as they face the Toronto Blue Jays, his former team at one time. In his 1st outing, Stroman went 6 shutout innings, struck out 4 batters while allowing 4 hits and walking 2. The Jays have not had the type of success out of the gate like the Yankees. They are currently 3-4 on the season and are batting a measly .176 combined. Justin Turner is the only Jay hitting over .300 and there are more .200 and below averages than above on the roster currently. Yusei Kikuchi will be on the hill for the Jays in this one and will have a tough lineup to face as he looks to lower an inflated ERA after his debut. He walked 3 and allowed 3 runs on just 4 1/3 innings of work while also walking 3.

While the Yankees lineup could potentially put up some numbers against Kikuchi, they do not carry the greatest career numbers against him. We don’t believe the Yanks will be able to get to this over by themselves and will have little help from the Jays. Stroman looked like prime Stroman in his last outing and even if he is 75% of what he was in his last outing, he should be able to make short work of this Jays lineup that has been on the struggle bus.
