The Toronto Blue Jays bat for their fourth win in five games on Friday when they kick off their weekend series against AL East rival Baltimore Orioles at Oriole Park.
The Jays came three outs short of completing a four-game sweep of the Boston Red Sox after squandering a late lead in the 10th inning of Thursday’s series finale. Toronto seized a 3-2 lead in the top of the 10th inning with a sacrifice fly by George Springer. But the Red Sox refused to go down as Jaren Duran evened the score with an RBI single and David Hamilton slid to score the game-winning run off a bunt from Trevor Story.
The Orioles have lost their last two games, including an embarrassing 0-9 blowout to the Arizona Diamondbacks. Baltimore enters the weekend series batting .241 with 55 runs and pitching 4.54 ERA – 6th worst in the MLB.
