Since Guido Pizarro surprised everyone by retiring as a player to take over as Tigres' coach, the team has played better and more freely, and they've been undefeated ever since. On Tuesday, Tigres advanced by beating Cincinnatti FC 3-1 in the second leg of the round of 16.
At the start, a play by the MLS club identical to the goal Tigres conceded in Ohio in the first leg gave Cincinnatti a 0-1 lead thanks to Evander's goal. Tigres then took complete control of the match in the second half, where Cincinnatti had a 0.00 xG and Tigres had 10 shots. However, the first goal would remain elusive until the 64th minute, when Brunetta scored with a header. Two minutes later, the Argentine scored the go-ahead goal with a shot against the post from the edge of the box.
Tigres' morale, as well as the quality of their football, appear to be on the rise, and four days after the continental clash, they will face Santos Laguna for Matchday 12 of the Liga MX. According to the betting sources, no team will be a bigger favorite than Tigres at the Estadio Universitario to beat Santos Laguna on Saturday.
