The Cincinnati Reds will try to build on a 14-run explosion on Monday as they go for their second straight win against the Texas Rangers at Great American Ball Park.
Elly De La Cruz homered twice and finished with a career-high seven RBIs to power the Reds to a dominant 14-3 win over the Rangers. Powered by De La Cruz and Matt McClain, Cincinnati raced to a 14-0 lead before their bullpen doused cold water on the Rangers’ comeback attempt in the 9th inning. The win improved the Reds record to 2-2.
The Rangers did not expect to get this kind of beating from the Reds; neither was their pitcher Kumar Rocker, who surrendered seven earned runs in three innings. The Rangers, who outscored the Boston Red Sox in their previous series, went 5 for 32 in a frustrating night at the plate.
