The Texas Rangers head into Baltimore for the weekend on the heels of three straight losses. After sweeping the Kansas City Royals at home, they were met with a taste of their own medicine against the Milwaukee Brewers. Now they must have a short-term memory if they hope to have any better luck against one of the best teams in the American League. Indeed, Baltimore’s 50-30 record puts them at 3rd in the AL behind the Yankees and Guardians. Corbin Burnes will take to the mound for Baltimore, a 3-time All-Star and former Cy Young Award winner. It has been a successful first year in Baltimore so far for Burnes, who is 8-3 with a 2.35 ERA. Jon “Wolf” Gray will get the nod for Texas, an MLB veteran who has had a couple rare chances to pitch out of the bullpen this year. It is expected to be a steaming hot day in Maryland, so players will be thankful this is a night game for them as opposed to the common Thursday matinees.
