Michigan kicked off its national title defense with an underwhelming 30-10 win over Fresno State. In a game where they were supposed to win by more than 30 points, the Wolverines could only cover 121 passing yards and 148 rushing yards against Fresno State. Many believe their shaky season opener should be attributed to the exodus of talent that followed suit upon winning the national title. The Wolverines lost not only their title-winning quarterback JJ McCarthy, but the six offensive linemen who played major roles in the team’s success last season.
