The Texas Longhorns will try to follow up their upset win over South Carolina with a win on the road vs. the No. 8 Kentucky Wildcats in Lexington at the Memorial Coliseum. This top-ten/SEC matchup is scheduled to get underway at 7 p.m. ET; fans can find coverage of the game on ESPN.
Beating a top-ten team at home is one thing, but doing it on the road is another. Texas has been a solid road team this year (7-2). However, only one of those wins has come against a ranked team (then-No. 9 Oklahoma, 80-73 on Jan. 2). The Longhorns will certainly have momentum entering this game after bringing South Carolina’s 57-game SEC winning streak to an end their last time out. Kentucky, on the other hand, will be looking to get back on the right side of the scoreboard after suffering their second conference loss of the season (third overall) their last time out on Monday, 66-57 to Ole Miss. The loss came on the heels of a pair of wins over ranked teams (then-No. 13 Oklahoma and No. 22 Alabama).
A win will give Kentucky its first 20+ win season since 2019-20; Texas will be gunning for its 25th win of the season.

Texas will win this game, but it is hard to say whether they’ll be able to cover the spread; 10.5 points is a significant margin over a top-ten team. I don’t think the Kentucky defense will have much of an impact on the Texas offense. It may slow the Longhorns down in the first half, but Texas will have their number in the second and put this one out of reach. But the Longhorns defense will have a more lasting impact on the Wildcats. However, while we like Texas to cover, we’re betting on the UNDER.
