The No. 5 seed Tennessee Volunteers will face the No. 4 seed Ohio State Buckeyes in second-round action today at 8 p.m. ET with coverage via ESPN. On the line—the right to face the winner of No. 6 Michigan/No. 3 Notre Dame in the Sweet 16.
Ohio State earned the right to move on to the second round after beating the No. 13 seed Montana State Bobcats 71-51. They were 13.5-point favorites but led the Bobcats by five at the break, 32-27. But a 23-3 run in the second half put the Bobcats in control. All five Ohio State starters scored in double digits, led by Taylor Thierry with 16 points and five rebounds, followed by Cotie McMahon and Chance Gray with 15 points. The Vols were also double-digit favorites (-16.5) in their open-round game against the No. 12 seed South Florida Bulls. Like Ohio State, they did not gain control of their game right away. Tennessee led by one, 26-25, after the first, but then took control in the second quarter, outscoring the Bulls 29-9. South Florida never got close in the second half.
