Tennis veteran David Goffin of Belgium will gun for another upset win against US Open finalist Taylor Fritz of the United States in the quarterfinal of the 2024 Shanghai Masters. Goffin continues to make some noise on the ATP Tour as the 33-year-old vet delivered a 6-4 7-5 upset win over No.2 seed Alexandre Zverev in the round of 16. Since this was their 9th head-to-head match, Goffin used his familiarity of playing with Zverev multiple times to come up with a perfect scheme that would knock German off his game. The Belgian captured 66 percent of his first serves and converted four breakpoints, beating Zverev for the fifth time in nine encounters. Fritz exorcised past demons to beat Holger Rune in under 15 games, 6-1 6-2. Nobody expected the American to produce this type of domination over Rune, who had defeated him twice in their previous three matches. The American scored 30 out of possible 35 points on his first serves and converted all four breakpoint chances to secure the win.
