Carlos Alcaraz will take on Tallon Griekspoor in the men’s singles of the Davis Cup quarterfinal tie between Spain and the Netherlands on Tuesday. Alcaraz will look to deliver a much better showing in the Davis Cup following a lackluster campaign in the ATP Finals that saw him missing the semifinal round. The reigning Wimbledon and French Open champion lost to Casper Ruud 6-1 7-5 in the first game before bouncing back with a 6-3 7-6(8) win over Andrey Rublev in the second game. The Spaniard had a chance to punch his ticket to the final four but he dropped a 7-6(5) 6-4 loss to Alexander Zverev in his final group stage match. Griekspoor bowed out as early as the second round of the 2024 Paris Masters despite putting together a solid run at the Stockholm Open, where he reached the semifinal round. The Dutch No.1 is being counted to lead the charge for his country, who reached the quarterfinal for a third consecutive year.
