Greetje Minnen of Belgium and Suzan Lamens of the Netherlands are set for their second career faceoff at the 2025 Austin Open on Thursday where the winner advances to her first quarterfinal appearance this year. Minnen bested qualifier Sijia Wei of China 5-7 6-3 6-2 to claim her third win in four matches on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Lamens notched her third win in four matches in a 1-6 6-3 6-4 comeback win over Kamilla Rakhimova of Russia. It looked like a total disaster for the Dutch in the early going as she could only secure one game in the opening set. However, Lamens began to turn it up in the second frame, seizing two breakpoint conversions while holding her last four serves after giving up a service break in the first game. She once again found herself trailing 1-3 in the third set, but she demonstrated great mental toughness to win the next four games and go ahead, 5-3. Rakhimova moved within one game after holding the next serve, but Lamens shut the door in her next service turn.
