The ATP 500 Barcelona Open is now underway, welcoming the top players in men's tennis! In the first round, Stefanos Tsitsipas and Reilly Opelka will face off for a spot in the Round of 16.

Third-seeded Tsitsipas is expected to come out more motivated than ever on these Spanish courts. The 26-year-old just suffered a major disappointment at the Monte Carlo Masters. As the defending champion and a three-time winner in Monaco, he was knocked out in the quarterfinals this year by Lorenzo Musetti in a match that was decisively dominated by the Italian. Having won the Dubai Masters 1000 last month, Tsitsipas will likely be eager to put this setback behind him and show what he’s capable of on the clay courts.

On the other hand, Reilly Opelka is making his return to the courts this year after two nearly non-existent seasons in 2023 and 2024. He’ll kick off his clay season at this Spanish tournament. The American reached the final in Brisbane back in January and has picked up some impressive wins, including a victory over top-15 player Holger Rune at the Miami Masters 1000 last month. However, his recent form may not be enough to trouble his Greek opponent.
