Stefanos Tsitsipas vs Kei Nishikori Prediction & Picks - ATP Shanghai Masters
by Lou Aguila | in ATP Shanghai Masters Picks
Former world’s No.3 Kei Nishikori of Japan is set to take on Stefanos Tsitsipas of Greece in the second round of the 2024 Shanghai Masters. Nishikori is coming off a gutsy victory over Mariano Navone of Argentina 3-6 6-4 6-3. In that match, the Japanese applied tremendous pressure on his opponent, winning 68 percent of his first serves and creating 16 breakpoint chances in which he converted three. After reaching the quarterfinals of the Japan Open Tennis Championship, Nishikori aims to continue his fine form at this ATP 1000 event. Speaking of form, Tsitsipas hasn’t been in a winning as of late. The Greek has gone 1-3 in his last four matches, recently losing Alex Michaelsen 4-6 6-1 6-2 in the first round of the Japan Open. The former ATP Tour finals winner hasn’t reached the quarterfinal round of every tournament he competed since losing to Novak Djokovic in the final eight of the Paris Olympic Games.

Our Stefanos Tsitsipas vs Kei Nishikori Prediction
Nishikori is surprisingly 2-1 in his head-to-head against Tsitsipas, with his most recent victory coming in the second round of the Canadian Open 6-4, 6-4. We have an intriguing battle on our hands with Nishikori, who is slowly regaining the form that made him a consistent tournament contender in his prime, and a precocious Tsitsipas, who is a going through a phase of inconsistency. I think Nishikori has proven himself as a strong underdog pick against Tsitsipas following his terrific showing at the Japan Open and clutch win over Giovanni Perricard. The Greek has an 11-10 record on the hard court this year, putting him in a vulnerable spot against Nishikori. Our betting prediction for Kei Nishikori vs. Stefanos Tsitsipas: Back Nishikori to win, +160, at BetMGM.
