At Citi Field, where nearly 40,000 people were in attendance, the Mets won Game 2 5-4 thanks to Lindor's first walk-off home run in a Mets jersey. With this, the Mets also took the second game of the series against the Cardinals, extending their winning streak over St. Louis to six games.
Soto didn't raise his average in Minneapolis, and the New York press has been critical of the Dominican star for his low average to start the season. But the Mets fans stood up in support of Soto, who responded with a key hit in the bottom of the fifth to temporarily tie the game. Still, Soto had a quiet night, going 1-for-3 with a walk.
On Friday, the Mets' bats achieved something crucial: avoiding strikeouts. They only struck out twice in 33 at-bats and walked four.
Meanwhile, the Cardinals suffered what all previous visitors to Citi Field suffered, unable to hit against the Mets' pitching, which struck out 15 between pitchers Peterson, Kranick, Stanek, and Brazobán.
