Lorenzo Sonego vs Daniel Evans Prediction & Picks - ATP Miami
by Bradley Gibbs | in ATP Miami Picks
After struggling to get going at the Indian Wells event last week, Lorenzo Sonego and Dan Evans will both hope that the courts in Miami are kinder to them this week, though only one will get their wish as the pair clash in this first-round match . In the early betting, Lorenzo Sonego, despite being slightly lower in the rankings right now, comes into the match as a relatively strong favorite, though I think a rather strong case can be made for the Italian being even stronger in the betting, so much so that he's worthy of betting on at currently available odds.Limited Offer. Our Lorenzo Sonego vs Daniel Evans Prediction
It's fair to say that neither player comes into this match in blistering form, though I think there's been plenty more to like about Sonego's recent efforts than what we've seen from Evans, who has won just one of his last seven matches, all of which have been played on a hard surface. Moreover, the Englishman hasn't exactly only lost to top-tier players. Sure, one of hsi recent defeats came against the highly exciting Ben Shelton, who is rapidly moving towards stardom, but his other two recent losses have come against players currently ranked outside of the world's top 35. He recently lost in straight sets to 101-ranked Kokkinakis. What's more, it was only two months ago that he lost, quite comfortably to Sonego in Australia. The Italian has since gone on to beat other players that hold similar rankings to Evans, while he also performed very well against Medvedev recently. Consider this in combination with his 100% record against Evans and he starts to look like a very decent bet at odds of -127, which despite not being huge, still look a shade generous.
