As a fan of the Leagues Cup, you probably already know how this competition works, but it is important to remember this when considering it in our sports betting. The Leagues Cup is a soccer tournament between teams from Major League Soccer and Liga MX, where teams from these two leagues battle it out to find the top team in North America. Given the relatively new status of this competition, there aren't currently any top teams. That being said, for the first two renditions of the tournament, Liga MX teams took charge.
The first edition was held in 2019 , but for organizational reasons it is not considered official as it is not endorsed by CONCACAF. During this time, the competition format consisted of direct elimination duels between the best four teams in Liga MX and MLS. That year, it was Mexican side Cruz Azul who lifted the first title of this tournament under the leadership of Robert Dante Siboldi.
The second edition, in 2021, was also a friendly tournament and the winner was Club León. The last edition took place in 2023 and was the first official tournament, with the current format, and the title went to Inter Miami, led by Lionel Messi.
The current competition system consists of 47 teams, meaning all Liga MX and MLS clubs compete. Of all of those, 45 were divided into 15 groups of three teams each, with the top two advancing to the next round. The remaining two advance to the round of 32 and are the Columbus Crew and Club América: the United States team for being the champion of the 2023 MLS Cup, and the Mexican team for being the champion that accumulated the most points during the last season, which includes the Apertura and Clausura 2023/2024.
Our Leagues Cup Prediction for the 2024 Season: Who to bet on?
The new season of the 2024 Leagues Cup has brought with it new expectations regarding the final winner of this competition, due to its novel competition format and because it is the third official edition, where for the first time, a team from the MLS took the cup home. The reality is that both American and Mexican soccer teams have some good odds in the competition, so taking into account the numbers of the most powerful teams in both leagues is of vital importance.
The Leagues Cup will heat up as the rounds go by and even more so as we transition to the knockout phase, which pairs increasingly stronger teams. On the MLS side, teams like Inter Miami (defending champion and leader of the MLS Eastern Conference), Cincinnati, Columbus Crew, LA Galaxy, Real Salt Lake or LAFC (with a great presence in the league) are positioned as strong candidates. On the Liga MX side, teams like América, Cruz Azul, Tigres, Rayados, Chivas and Pachuca are the favorites given their strength and squad depth.
All of the above mentioned teams also appear to be the top favorites to win their respective groups.

Leagues Cup Golden Boot Prediction
The list of players who have had the opportunity to participate in this tournament has been enormous, however, the goal scorers are clearly not so abundant, since, with such large squads, in many cases, the goals are distributed among different players from a wide variety of different positions. Currently, it's Cristian Arango (Real Salt Lake), Christian Benteke (DC United), Denis Bouanga (LAFC), from the MLS.
On the Mexican side, there are some powerful historical scorers who can continue to make a name for themselves today, such as Henry Martín (Club América), Salomón Rondón (Pachuca), André-Pierre Gignac (Tigres UANL) or Javier Hernández (Chivas de Guadalajara). And there are also some new arrivals such as Giorgos Giakoumakis (Cruz Azul reinforcement) or Brandon Vásquez (Monterrey).

The Leagues Cup is a new competition between teams from MLS and Liga MX. So far, there have only been three champion clubs, two Mexican (Cruz Azul and León) and one American (Inter Miami). This 2024 season is the second in which all clubs from both leagues will be invited, totaling 47 teams, in addition to having a format that includes the Group Stage, where there are 15 groups with three teams each that will face each other to decide who will be the two that advance to the knockout stages for the Round of 32, without forgetting that the MLS Cup champion (Columbus Crew) and the champion who added the most points in Liga MX (Club América) advance directly to this stage. Thus, the knockout duels for the Round of 16 and Quarterfinals continue until reaching the Grand Final of the competition, leaving only one champion who will earn their ticket to the Concacaf Champions Cup.- 15 groups of three teams each (45 in total) that face each other
- 2 teams that advance directly (MLS champion and Liga MX champion)
- The top two from each group advance to the Round of 32.
- The winner has a ticket to the CONCACAF Champions League
Last season, León won the League Cup in a final against Seattle Sounders, so this time they will be fully motivated. Do you already know who you are going to bet on? Make your sports predictions now!
